Agnès Ferla analyzes and synthesizes the constants of painting. She will benefit of the Vaud state residency program at the “Cité internationale des Arts” of Paris from January to June 2017.
After her studies at ECAL (University of Arts in Lausanne) of Bachelor in Visual Arts in 2011, she leaves in 2012 in San Francisco where she works on display of the exhibition “When Attitudes Became Become Form become Attitudes” by Jens Hoffman at the “Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts” and organizes in parallel the exhibition collective “Fight or flight”.
In 2013 she ends her Master studies at ECAL and co-founded the artist run space “La Sas”, where she takes care of the design of many exhibitions of young artists of the Lausanne scene.
Agnès Ferla's paintings are direct pictorial acts. The moving material is frozen on the canvas. The contents are reduced to very fine particles of steel, minerals etc. The places of origin of these materials vary : some are found during strolls in outside and others are transformed and used by the industry.
Agnès Ferla appropriates traces of anecdotal places and creates a game with the painting. This approach is a way of understanding the contemporary era by fossilization.
